Arthur C. Laske III is a Board Certified Civil Trial Specialist, certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He has practiced civil trial law since his admission to the Bar of the State of Connecticut in 1988. In 1993, Attorney Laske opened his own law practice dedicated to the trial of civil cases. In his fifteen years of practice, Art has tried numerous jury cases on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants, in state and federal courts. He enjoys trying cases before a jury, and believes that the right to have cases heard by a jury is one of our most important rights as citizens. In addition to jury trials, Art has extensive experience in the area of appellate practice. He has argued before the Connecticut Appellate Court on four occasions, and before the Connecticut Supreme Court on six occasions. Art tried the case and successfully defended the appeal in Moore v. Ganim, a case referred to by one commentator as “…perhaps the most noteworthy, and surely the most scholarly, state constitutional case of 1995[.]” Since 1993, Art has also been an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Bridgeport, Connecticut, the largest city in the State of Connecticut. In this position he has defended the City and its employees in civil matters, including cases involving wrongful death, medical malpractice, violations of U.S.C. Section 1983, injunctions, negligence and employment matters. Art received his Board Certification from the National Board of Trial Advocacy in 1998, and he has served since 1994 as a faculty member at the Connecticut Trial Advocacy Institute, a trial skills seminar sponsored by the Connecticut Bar Association. He also attended the National Program of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) in Boulder, Colorado, in 1992. Art received his law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he served as a member of the National Moot Court Team. He graduated from Boston College in 1984 and served as President of the Undergraduate Government of Boston College. He is a 1980 graduate of Fairfield College Preparatory School. Prior
to attending law school, Art worked on the re-election staff of Representative
William Ratchford (D-CT) in 1984, and he thereafter worked on the
Congressional staff of Representative Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) before leaving
Washington, D.C. for law school. Art
is married to Linda Pesce Laske, who is also an attorney. They are
the parents of three boys, John, 6, Joseph, 4, and Nathaniel, 2. They
reside in Easton, Connecticut. |
